Dr. Dokyoung Yoon is a physician epidemiologist in Health Sciences Center of Exponent, Inc.  Dr. YoonDr. Dokyoung Yoon specializes in application of sound scientific principles to medical, pharmaceutical, and environmental health issues.  He utilizes his extensive experiences in medicine and epidemiology to find the root-cause of concerns, to weigh the efficiency of measures, and to solve complex problems effectively.  His unique combination of capabilities and experiences in health science fields has tremendously benefited numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations including governments and international organizations.  He has more than 20 years experience as a physician and health science researcher.  He has conducted more than 40 clinical studies in the fields of chronic diseases and infectious diseases including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, geriatrics, mental health, and hepatitis.  He also led the studies in emergency preparedness and disaster response, and health economics.  He has worked as a reviewer for the American Journal of Public Health, the Clinical Therapeutics, and the Korean Journal of Family Medicine.

 


Dr. Dokyoung Yoon is a strong advocate for humanitarian actions.  He served for the United Nations as a Peace Keeping Forces medical officer in 1997.  Western_Sahara031.jpgHe participated and led numerous humanitarian relief actions including the Sri Lanka tsunami disaster in 2005, and the Indonesia earthquake disaster in 2006.  He contributed a founding asset to Coordinated Assistance Network, and played central role in establishing patients centered website, NoMoreSeizures.org.  He founded Malaria.Net to help building self-help efforts, and to promote public health measures through social coalitions.  SriLanka_2005_01_11s.jpgHe believes sound sciences based on ethical principles will help humans advance and benefit the earth.   

 

Dr. Dokyoung Yoon is an avid sportsman.  He circled the Korean peninsula as a solo-cyclist in 1985, and was awarded Black belt in Judo in 1987.  SriLanka_Camp.jpg He won the 4th place in a SCUBA diving navigation competition in 1988.  He founded the first mountain unicycle club in Korea in 2003 and was the president of the club until 2006.  He, nowadays, likes to teach unicycle and speed skating to his two sons.  Dr. Dokyoung Yoon lives in Virginia with his family.  The U.S. government granted Green Card to Dr. Dokyoung Yoon in 2009 under the section of National Interest Waiver, meaning Dr. Yoon’s presence and work in U.S. would benefit the United States, nationally.
